Training programme on “Mushroom cultivation for doubling Farmers income” from 25 to 27 June 2018 at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region

 

A three days training programme (25-27 June 2018) on Mushroom cultivation for doubling Farmers’ income was conducted at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya in collaboration with DMR, Solan. Around 40 farmers from Jowai and nearby areas have attended the training programme. This training programme included theory and hands-on related to Oyster, button and shiitake mushroom. Course Director Dr. Pankaj Baiswar thanked all the farmer friends for active participation and he also thanked the Director of the Institute Dr. N. Prakash for all the help and support. He also informed the house that Farmers’ income can definitely be doubled by adopting mushroom cultivation. Various inputs like oyster mushroom spawn, polybags and literature were also distributed along with a Bulletin in Khasi language “Ka jingrep tit bad ka rukom pynmih symbai tit” by Dr. G.T. Behere, HOD, Crop Protection. Dr. Anupam Barh, Scientist from DMR, Solan also emphasised on the presence of favourable climate in this region which can definitely help in round the year production of Mushrooms (Oyster mushroom). The programme has being coordinated by Dr. Pankaj Baiswar, Dr. A. Ratan Kumar Singh, Dr. H. Rymbai and Dr. P.K. Sinha.
